Description

This Hot Honey Pulled Pork combines a sweet and spicy flavor profile that’s sure to please. With simple ingredients like pork, hot honey, and a savory sauce, it’s the ultimate comfort food for a quick dinner or casual gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 lb pork butt or shoulder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons pepper
  • ¾ cup hot honey
  • ¾ cup chicken stock
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F with the rack in the middle. Cut the pork into 6 large pieces.
  2. In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Coat the pork with this spice mixture on all sides.
  3. In a braiser or heavy pot, combine hot honey, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, chicken stock, and mustard. Add the pork and turn to coat in the sauce.
  4. Cover with a lid and braise in the oven for 2 ½ hours. Afterward, remove the lid, flip the pork pieces, and continue braising uncovered for an additional 30 minutes.
  5. Remove the pork from the pot and shred it using two forks.
  6. Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring the liquid to a boil. Reduce the mixture until it thickens to a BBQ sauce consistency, then pour over the pulled pork.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the pork in the spice mixture overnight.
The apple cider vinegar adds a great tang, but you can substitute it with regular vinegar if needed.
Store leftover pulled pork in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
