Description

Hot Dog Burnt Ends are a delicious twist on classic comfort food. These bite-sized treats are bursting with flavor from smoked paprika and BBQ sauce, making them ideal for a quick dinner or special occasion. Enjoy them fresh off the grill, coated in a sweet and smoky glaze—perfect for family gatherings or a fun meal at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 hot dogs
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ cup butter, unsalted
  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce, plus more for dipping

Instructions

  1. In a large Ziploc bag, combine the hot dogs, yellow mustard, and smoked paprika. Seal the bag and massage to coat the hot dogs evenly.
  2. Preheat the grill to medium-low heat (about 300°F).
  3. Place the coated hot dogs on the grill and cook for about 20 minutes, turning them frequently with the lid open.
  4. Increase the heat to medium (about 325°F) and continue cooking, rotating the hot dogs for even browning.
  5. Once the hot dogs are dark brown, transfer them to a disposable aluminum baking tray and cut them diagonally into thirds.
  6. On the grill, add the butter, brown sugar, and barbecue sauce to the tray. Allow the butter to melt, then mix until the hot dogs are well coated.
  7. Close the grill lid and adjust the temperature to 350°F. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  8. When the sauce is thickened and caramelized, remove the tray from the grill. Serve the hot dog ends hot with extra barbecue sauce for dipping.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add some cayenne pepper to the mustard mixture.
Feel free to substitute turkey or veggie hot dogs for a different twist.
Use any favorite barbecue sauce for varying flavors.
