- 8 slices white sandwich bread
- softened cream cheese, diced strawberries, or Nutella
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 heaping teaspoon ground cinnamon
- butter, for greasing the pan
Instructions
- Cut the crusts off each slice of bread and flatten them with a rolling pin.
- Place 1-2 teaspoons of your chosen filling about 1 inch from one end of the bread and roll it up tightly. Repeat this with the remaining slices.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until fully blended.
- In another shallow bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter.
- Dip each bread roll into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s coated well, and place it seam side down in the skillet. Cook in batches until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side. Add more butter as needed.
- Once cooked, transfer the rolls to the cinnamon sugar mixture and roll them until fully coated. Serve with syrup for dipping, or enjoy as is.
