Description

BBQ Pizza combines smoky flavors of barbecue sauce with tender chicken and a blend of cheeses, resulting in a dish that’s simple to prepare and packed with taste. Ideal for a quick dinner or a fun weekend meal, this pizza is a crowd-pleaser.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce, divided
  • 1 cup shredded cooked chicken or pork
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced red onion
  • 4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese (~1 cup)
  • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese (~1 cup)
  • minced cilantro, optional


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425℉ (215℃) and lightly grease a 12-inch pizza pan.
  2. Stretch and flatten the pizza dough on the greased pan using floured hands.
  3. In a bowl, combine the shredded chicken or pork with 2 tablespoons of BBQ sauce and garlic powder, coating the meat well.
  4. Spread a thin layer of BBQ sauce over the dough, leaving a bit of a border for the crust.
  5. Add the seasoned meat and sliced onion on top, followed by the cheeses.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown. Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  7. Optionally, sprinkle with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

Feel free to substitute the chicken with pork for a different flavor.
Using store-bought pizza dough saves time, but homemade dough adds a personal touch.
For added heat, consider adding jalapeños or red pepper flakes.
