Ingredients
Scale
- 14 oz extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce, or tamari
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, or lime juice
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger, or ½ teaspoon ground
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (or ½ teaspoon garlic powder)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Cooking spray or 1–2 teaspoons neutral oil, for air fryer crisping
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil, avocado/vegetable
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 stalks celery, thinly sliced
- ¼ cup soy sauce, or tamari
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 –2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar, use maple for vegan
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 –2 teaspoons sriracha or chili garlic sauce, to taste
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar, optional, for brightness
- sesame seeds
- optional: sliced green onions
Instructions
- Press and cube the tofu by letting it sit for 10–15 minutes and then cutting it into 1-inch cubes.
- Marinate the tofu by tossing it with soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic, allowing it to sit for 10–15 minutes.
- Coat the tofu with cornstarch, ensuring it is lightly covered.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Lightly spray the air fryer basket and tofu with cooking spray or drizzle a little oil over the tofu, then air fry for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway through, until golden and crisp.
- Whisk together the stir fry sauce ingredients until smooth, and mix the spicy soy sauce ingredients separately, setting them aside.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon of neutral oil. Introduce the sliced onion, broccoli florets, and celery, cooking for 4–6 minutes until they are crisp-tender.
- Pour in the prepared stir fry sauce and cook for an additional 1–2 minutes until it becomes glossy and thickened.
- Gently add the crispy tofu to the skillet, or serve it on top to maintain its crispiness. Drizzle the spicy soy sauce to taste and sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions as desired.
Notes
For extra crunch, you can air fry the tofu for longer if needed.
Feel free to substitute seasonal vegetables for the broccoli and celery to personalize your stir fry.
Add more sriracha for a spicier kick if you enjoy heat.
