- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry thawed
- 1 can strawberry pie filling
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar optional for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Take one sheet of puff pastry out of the refrigerator, keeping the other chilled.
- Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle, about 10 x 12 inches, using a rolling pin and lightly dusting with flour if needed.
- Cut the rolled pastry into four equal squares using a pizza cutter.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg until well mixed.
- Place a spoonful of strawberry pie filling in the center of each square.
- Brush the edges of each pastry square with the egg wash.
- Fold each square over the filling to form a triangle and use a fork to seal the edges.
- Arrange the turnovers on the lined baking sheets, spacing them about three inches apart.
- Brush the tops with egg wash.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
- Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients.
- After cooling slightly, dust with powdered sugar if desired.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For best results, make sure the puff pastry is fully thawed before rolling it out.
You can substitute the strawberry pie filling with other fruit fillings to mix things up.
