Description

This Strawberry Compote brings together the sweet tartness of fresh strawberries with a hint of lemon, creating an irresistible flavor. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for topping your favorite desserts or breakfast items.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine the chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a medium saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries break down and the mixture thickens to your desired consistency. Remember, the compote will thicken more if chilled.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Serve this strawberry sauce warm or chilled, as you prefer!

Notes

Adjust the sugar based on the sweetness of the strawberries you use.
For a slightly different flavor, try adding a pinch of salt or a dash of cinnamon.
