Description

This Slow Cooker Shredded BBQ Chicken boasts mouthwatering flavor with simple preparation. Using juicy chicken thighs and a tangy sauce, it’s ideal for quick dinners or comfort food.


Ingredients

  • 1.5-2 pounds chicken thighs or breast boneless, skinless
  • 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup (53 g) dark brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons (1.5 fl oz) apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons (15 g) dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

  1. In a large measuring cup or small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients for the BBQ sauce.
  2. Place the chicken in the slow cooker and pour the BBQ sauce over it. Cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  3. Once cooked, shred the chicken and mix it back into the sauce in the slow cooker. Serve warm.

Notes

For spicier BBQ chicken, add a dash of hot sauce to the BBQ sauce mixture.
This recipe works well with rice or on a bun for sandwiches.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
