Description

Penne Alla Vodka is a delightful blend of pasta, rich vodka cream sauce, and savory ingredients. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or cozy meal, it’s irresistibly flavorful and easy to make at home.


Ingredients

  • 16 ounces penne pasta
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small yellow onion diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/3 cup vodka
  • 3/4 cup half and half
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese shredded
  • basil sliced to garnish


Instructions

  1. Bring 6 quarts of water to a boil in a large stock pot. Add kosher salt and cook the penne according to package instructions, draining when it has a small bite.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in vodka, scraping up the browned bits from the skillet. Simmer until reduced by half, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add tomato sauce and half and half, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Cook uncovered over low heat for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Toss in the cooked penne, serving topped with grated Parmesan cheese and sliced basil.

Notes

For a little extra flavor, consider adding crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce.
You can substitute vodka with white wine for a different taste.
Feel free to add cooked chicken or shrimp for added protein.
