Description

These Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks deliver irresistible flavor with tender beef, veggies, and melted cheese, making it a quick and tasty comfort food for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper diced
  • 1 small red bell pepper diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced or pressed
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • ⅓ cup bbq sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon beef better than bouillon
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 8 ounces monterey jack cheese shredded
  • 6 brioche buns or gluten-free buns

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and bell peppers, and sauté until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Push vegetables to the side and cook the ground beef until no longer pink, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  5. Combine BBQ sauce, beef broth, bouillon, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper into the pan, stir well, and let simmer for 10 minutes to thicken flavors.
  6. Stir in shredded cheese before serving.
  7. Serve the beef mixture on buns, and optionally toast the buns with butter.

Notes

Use grass-fed beef for a richer flavor.
Feel free to customize with your favorite cheese or add jalapeños for a spicy kick.
For a low-carb option, serve without buns.
