Description

Create your own Fermented Whey Soda at home for a fizzy, probiotic-rich drink. With just whey and fruit juice, this recipe is quick to prep and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whey (strained from homemade yogurt)
  • 64 ounces fruit juice (no preservatives)

Instructions

  1. In a gallon jar or a large mixing bowl with a pour spout, mix the whey and fruit juice together.
  2. Transfer the mixture into swing top bottles or mason jars. Seal the bottles tightly and allow them to sit at room temperature for 3-4 days, or up to 1 week, based on your kitchen's temperature.
  3. Each day, open the bottles to release any built-up carbon dioxide, then reseal. Carefully turn the bottle upside down a few times to mix the contents.
  4. Check when the soda begins to fizz, indicating fermentation is complete.
  5. Store the fermented soda in the refrigerator and enjoy within 1-2 weeks.

Notes

Ensure that the fruit juice contains no preservatives for the best fermentation process.
Use bottles that can withstand pressure to prevent bursts during fermentation.
