Description
Create your own Fermented Whey Soda at home for a fizzy, probiotic-rich drink. With just whey and fruit juice, this recipe is quick to prep and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup whey (strained from homemade yogurt)
- 64 ounces fruit juice (no preservatives)
Instructions
- In a gallon jar or a large mixing bowl with a pour spout, mix the whey and fruit juice together.
- Transfer the mixture into swing top bottles or mason jars. Seal the bottles tightly and allow them to sit at room temperature for 3-4 days, or up to 1 week, based on your kitchen's temperature.
- Each day, open the bottles to release any built-up carbon dioxide, then reseal. Carefully turn the bottle upside down a few times to mix the contents.
- Check when the soda begins to fizz, indicating fermentation is complete.
- Store the fermented soda in the refrigerator and enjoy within 1-2 weeks.
Notes
Ensure that the fruit juice contains no preservatives for the best fermentation process.
Use bottles that can withstand pressure to prevent bursts during fermentation.
