- 1 1/2 cups white whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup dutch process cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup chocolate chips, plus more for topping
- 1 cup ripe bananas, mashed (about 3 small/medium bananas with plenty of brown spots)
- 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
- 2/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup avocado oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a loaf pan with parchment paper or lightly spray with oil.
- In a large bowl, combine all wet ingredients and whisk until fully mixed.
- In a separate medium bowl, combine all dry ingredients, except the chocolate chips, and whisk until fully mixed.
- Add the dry mixture into the wet mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until combined. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan, topping generously with extra chocolate chips.
- Bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Notes
For extra moisture, ensure your bananas are very ripe with plenty of brown spots.
You can substitute the greek yogurt with applesauce for a dairy-free version.
Storing the banana bread in an airtight container will keep it fresh for up to a week.
