Description

These cinnamon rolls are a delightful treat with their warm, gooey center and a creamy icing on top. Easy to make, they’re perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups warm milk just above body temperature
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup butter melted
  • 1 egg
  • 3 2/3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/21 tablespoon cinnamon to taste
  • 1/3 cup full fat cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; mix with a fork.
  2. Add melted and cooled butter to the milk mixture, ensuring it's not too hot.
  3. Incorporate the egg into the milk mixture.
  4. Sift flour and salt over the milk mixture and mix on low speed with a dough hook until sticky dough forms.
  5. Increase mixer speed to knead the dough for 2-3 minutes, until tacky but not sticky.
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and heat it with warm water in a second bowl to help the dough rise for 20 minutes.
  7. While the dough rises, grease a baking dish with butter.
  8. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  9. Roll the dough into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and cover with cinnamon sugar mixture.
  10. Roll the dough from long side to create one long roll and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  11. Place rolls in the greased dish and let rise in a cold oven while preheating.
  12. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 23 minutes, adjusting time as necessary for golden brown.
  13. Cool slightly before icing with cream cheese and powdered sugar mixture.

Notes

For a lighter flavor, adjust the cinnamon to taste.
Ensure the butter added to the milk is not too hot to activate the yeast properly.
