Description

Ingredients

  • 2 premade, thawed puff pastry sheets
  • 2 cups mozzarella, shredded
  • 4 tbsp parmesan, grated
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus, sliced into 3 inch pieces
  • 1¾ cup prosciutto, torn into pieces
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • 1 sliced lemon to squeeze before eating
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 4-6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2-3 fresh basil leaves


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400º and roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to thin it slightly.
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and place the rolled puff pastry onto it.
  3. Prick the inner area of the pastry border with a fork to prevent puffing during baking.
  4. Sprinkle mozzarella in the center, leaving a 1-inch border. Add a pinch of parmesan and asparagus pieces.
  5. Place torn prosciutto around the cheese and asparagus, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  6. Whisk the egg and brush it over the pastry borders.
  7. Bake for 15-25 minutes, until edges are golden-brown and asparagus is tender.

Notes

Feel free to add more cheese or prosciutto for extra richness.
Fresh herbs can be added right before serving for added flavor.
Using a pizza cutter can help in cutting the pastry after baking.
