Ingredients
Scale
- 2 premade, thawed puff pastry sheets
- 2 cups mozzarella, shredded
- 4 tbsp parmesan, grated
- 1 bunch fresh asparagus, sliced into 3 inch pieces
- 1¾ cup prosciutto, torn into pieces
- 1 egg, whisked
- 1 sliced lemon to squeeze before eating
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 4-6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes
- 2-3 fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400º and roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to thin it slightly.
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and place the rolled puff pastry onto it.
- Prick the inner area of the pastry border with a fork to prevent puffing during baking.
- Sprinkle mozzarella in the center, leaving a 1-inch border. Add a pinch of parmesan and asparagus pieces.
- Place torn prosciutto around the cheese and asparagus, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Whisk the egg and brush it over the pastry borders.
- Bake for 15-25 minutes, until edges are golden-brown and asparagus is tender.
Notes
Feel free to add more cheese or prosciutto for extra richness.
Fresh herbs can be added right before serving for added flavor.
Using a pizza cutter can help in cutting the pastry after baking.
